Golden Sands or Zlatni Pyasutsi as it is know in Bulgaria is the largest resort on Bulgaria’s northern coastline. Boasting 3.5km of golden sands, this coastline offers a holiday which will have something for everyone.
For history and culture you can visit the impressive Aladzha rock monastery which is one of the best preserved rock monasteries, scattered all over the Dobrudzha region. There is also the Zlatni Pyasatsi natural park which is only a short distance away from the resort. If you don’t mind travelling a short distance you could take a day trip into Varna, where during the summer you will find the Festival of Arts which shows performances of ballet, jazz, operas and rock.
If you want to be entertained in Golden Sands there is a casino, a number of bars, a mini-golf playground, horse-carriages and attractive carts, water slides, water sports and during the peak season there is a Strong Man Competition and the Miss and Mister “Zlatni Pyasatsi” Competion.
For children, there’s not just the beaches and water sports activities to keep them busy but also a children’s sports centre which is packed with fun activities including pony rides and bouncy castles. There is also the water park, Aquapolis which provides a fun packed day out in the sun.
here are number of ‘tourist type’ shops within the resort selling postcards, sun hats, film and most bits and pieces one would want to buy whilst lazing in the sun. If it’s serious shopping you would like to do, head into Varna, which offers shops from the very quaint and interesting to the usual supermarket places.
Numerous restaurants serve traditional Bulgarian dishes as well as European cuisine and exotic foods to suit every taste and preference. There are also numerous food stalls on the beach and along the shore.
Golden Sands features a wide range of beach bars, discos and nightclubs where holiday visitors can keep the action going until the early hours. A casino will satisfy the gambling spirit and there is always a variety of shows and entertainment to be had.
