The purpose-built resort of Gumbet situated on Turkey's southwest coast is only a short distance away from the larger resort of Bodrum. Gumbet is popular mainly for those interested in relaxing on the beach by day and having an exciting night in the bars and clubs which are open all night. There is however plenty to do during the day, a multitude of watersports are on offer, including jet skiing, parasailing, windsurfing and pedal boating.
Once you have enjoyed all the activities in the day there are a number of restaurant, bars and fast food joints catering for a variety of tastes. For those wanting a less energetic day, a leisurely boat trip along the coastline of the Bodrum Peninsula is a fantastic way relax, explore the scenery and even top up your tan. As there are not many sightseeing opportunities in Gumbet itself, you can catch a mini bus to Bodrum, which is about 10 minutes away, or to other nearby towns, to shop and see the sights.
Although Gumbet is a relatively small resort, there are plenty of places to shop. The markets are popular with tourists as you can barter and find yourself a real bargain including leather goods, carpets and silver and gold jewellery.
Gumbet offers food that really does cater to all tastes, from Chinese to Indian, from Italian to Thai, from Mexican to Japanese and from many other countries. However if you did want a Traditional Turkish meal then there are plenty of restaurants offering traditional dishes including stuffed peppers and vine leaves, kebabs and of course feta cheese, olive and tomato salads.
Gumbet boasts a fantastic nightlife, with plenty of bars and clubs offering a fantastic atmosphere staying open until the early hours. Gumbet is one of the most popular resorts in Turkey if you are looking for a holiday which offers you an exciting night life.
